The SS register secretary didn't believe me when I told him the location of the chassis number on the first SS Jaguars but I have photos from several cars now so the chassis were stamped (he maintains that they were not).
I wonder if your SSII chassis was also stamped is a similar location, namely on the off side near to the rear front spring trunion?

I'd be interested to see a photo of it if you can.

Removed the paint and checked the chassis and no numbers stamped. I rechecked the number on the chassis and that reads 134632. I would have posted pics but the battery was flat |

The SS register secretary did tell me that 134632 was a chassis number for a SSII but wouldn't tell me anything because he thought mine wasn't an SSII chassis . He compared pictures and said no. I agree there are some cosmetic changes(it was used for a kit car and has a prop guard added) but 80-90% was similar in my eyes. Suppose it could be a little nine but did they share numbers between different end users?? |

This is the chassis of a 1937 SS Jaguar 2½ litre saloon. Although a very different car from an SSII it would be interesting to know if the SSII chassis was stamped in a similar place i.e. near the offside front spring rear trunion.

Could you take a photo of this number and tell me where on the chassis it is?

I do have a pic which I will post later. Definitely 134632 and it's on the front near side chassis rail on the upper surface half way along the front leaf spring region. |

Thanks,

Here you go. The only odd digit is the last number, its seems like this was damaged and re stamped ????
Also I requested info from Jaguar heritage and they acknowledged there was some records but I would need to pay £45 to find out |

Well for what it's worth I think that's a genuine period chassis number and I think that makes your chassis to be from an SSII.
