|
|
Hi all
I have recently got my MGA back on the road, its perfect apart from the gearbox change
Gear selection is difficult, when changing up from cold its ok, changing down especially 3rd to 2nd can be a problem. As things get up to working temperature even changing up can be a problem.
Pumping the clutch does make things easier, but I bled the slave cylinder by taking it off, and pressure bleeding with the slave cylinder held high...
I suspect the clutch but any suggestions really welcome

It does sound as though you have a little air still in there despite the pressure bleeding. Actually, I've tried a few of these widgets and these days always resort to collaring an assistant when brake or clutch bleeding is required and doing it the old-fashioned way, I find I get better results that way. If it's still difficult try pumping the pedal until it's as firm as you can get it then wedge it down to the floor overnight with a bit of wood, not something I like doing but you might just find it does the trick |

Hi Dave,
If the seals are perished then no amount of bleeding will get rid of the air (permanently).
