511FPL
Hi
I am trying very hard to locate my late Father's old Rover P4 - it is a 1958 105S in green. It is actually the car I learnt to drive in and I would love to see it again. Dad and I toured Germany and Austria in the car during my teens and I have very fond memories of these camping trips.
I think my Father sold it around 1975 and I found a web link to Bailey Classic Cars who sold it in 2008. I have tried DVLA (data protection ;-( no help). I have written to both the Rover clubs but again no luck.
I have contacted DVLA and know the car is taxed and insured
If the owner reads this PLEASE get in touch. If anyone knows where this car is I would be very grateful for any help, or ask the owner to contact me.
Thanks very much - David Addey 07770 466193 511FPL

Might also be worth writing to a few of the classic magazines / papers, the ones I see seem to print such appeals quite often.

I hadn't used AskMid before but on the web it shows the vehicle as..

IS showing as insured on the Motor Insurance Database today.
The details on the MID are:

Vehicle Make/Model: ROVER 105 2638

DVLA website showing the car as taxed until end of November 2014 so it's still out there somewhere.

Might be worth trying the Rover Sport Register for more information

The vehicle details for 511 FPL are:
Date of Liability 01 11 2014
Date of First Registration 03 06 1958
Year of Manufacture 1958
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2638cc
Fuel Type PETROL
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour GREEN

bit of a mixed basket with DVLA. if for example we have a registration number and claim we are involved in a hit and run it will provide details to our insurance company etc. its openly accessible to police and other agencies.
data protection bit of grey area and often used so as not to respond to private enquiries etc.
one would have thought it not beyond common sense to allow a pass through notice site .. e.g. somebody wishing to make contact with anybody on its data base ..to try and buy a number plate for example.
it can simply take your letter of intent ( want to buy? etc) plus give your details. then forward for a fee ( money always interests folk) to owner at last registered address.
if owner not interested a simply no thank /no contact wanted reply by post paid or e-mail to dvl a. this passed to you.
or... if interested then DVLA can pass back owners data with permission on a form along with post paid reply letter as part of fee.
thus getting income and facilitating efforts all over e.g. barn finds.
