Hi,
I've been slowly restoring the above vehicle, in Aussie, where I live.

Getting new spares for my car is proving a bit difficult - I'm paying my mechanic to do the upgrades and repairs because I had RSI for 81/2 years and don't want RSI back from the muscular activities !!

New Turbo kit came from England.
Pistons, rings, bearings and other engine parts, Germany
New Harmonic Balancer fitted recently
A vacuum pump which is between the brake pedal and the Servo Assisted Brakes ??? from England.
Other spares, which my mechanic has, stored away in his barn like building for the 740 Turbo....for years (Volvo Specialist)

I am surprised that the 740 Turbo Waggon still looks reasonably modern against other modern cars today, however, it is easy to find in a shopping car park (American Style), because the roof configuration makes it stand out, in a sea of cars.

My Volvo is pretty much a new car, mechanically speaking and I had a cheap respray, some years ago, which is still good.

So far my Volvo cost me roughly A$12,000 in repairs, about the new price of a new Jap cheap car, in Aussie and it is like driving a tank with attitude against the plastic, cars of today, with an awesome performance from a standing start (traffic lights).

I could put 2 chips ($800) in to the computer, to increase the engine power and performance, however the extra muscle only kicks in, in the upper speed ranges and 110kmh is the top speed Aussie wide - so no point.

Richard
