HI EVERYBODY,

NEED SOME HELP WITH SOME KNOLEDGE.

CAN ANYONE TELL ME ANYTHING ABOUT THE HILLMAN MINX MK 6?

IVE BOUGHT A BLACK MK 6, BUT THINK IT MIGHT BE A SPECIAL EDITION CAR? WOULD LIKE TO KNOW PRODUCTION HISTORY ETC IT WAS MADE IN 1953 (CORONATION SPECIAL?) HAS A CHROME MASCOT WITH THE LETTER C ON THE SIDES?

ANY IDEAS ANYONE?

That would be the Californian. I think Dave has just got rid of one of those ( or has he still got it)

Could be coronation but also in 53 hillman were celebrating 21 years of something or another?! Achievements springs to mind, there was certainly a lot of specials that year to celebrate the 21 years.

update
There was a Minx produced in 54 ish (MkV - IV) that was a special/limited edition. All were black and it was in fact a lesser model produced by Hillman to appeal to the rep of the day. it used a lesser old stock engine (side valve) and was very basic i.e no chrome, no carpets etc etc.
Allegedly dealers struggled to shift them and tried to tart them up to appeal, same as they came round second hand dealers had to tart them up to try to temp folk to buy what was a very basic vehicle
