Hi folks, a newbie here.
My names Alan, 45 married with one bairn who is now not so much a bairn being that he's 17 and off to uni in a few months. ( extra bedroom for storing bits i hear you all say) and my handle being chimp choker has got to be because i come from the principality of Hartlepool.
I used to mess about with mini's about 25 years ago then got a couple of posh cars that meant dealer maintainance for the cars. Anyway I was passing this old lock up about 18 months ago and in it was a mini rio bodyshell all newly painted.
The bloke with it said he had lost interest in it and I bought it there and then, his name is BoB because he was a bodyshell and 6 Boxes of Bits (BoB) which I duly put back together. The plan was for my son to use it but at 17 with a provisional licence the cheapest rip off is £1500 TPF&T.
So that one finished and I enjoyed it so, so much I was on the look out for something else to play with. I wanted a stag or a TR6 but couldn't afford them and my wife was scowling all the time when I mentioned my plans.
Anyway, There I was walking along the road minding my own business, humming atune on a nice august afternoon and there before me was a 1968 MKii 240 jaguar.
Well it looked so forlorn, on the drive way, a tyre deflated, a bit of rust here and there so I paid £395 for it and got it home into the garage before my wife came home from work......It was a full week before she let me sleep in the house again.......
The inside is stripped out, all chrome is off and the running gear is coming out in February ready for a dip and strip in dudley in march then the fun with the welder starts.
Just looking through this thread and thought we'd better introduce ourselves (yes she has got more cars than me)

Nice to see the humbers. I had a 1963 Mki humber septre with the holbourn (?) engine, the all alli one....way back in 1983. Reg # 7302 RH. Bought it for £395 ran it all over the place for about 25k miles then sold it at auction with a knackered diff and 1 bust drive shaft for £100 when the #plate was then worth £125.00 .....
Never had much luck with cars me....bet that #plate is worth 1000's now if it still exists....
I've never had much luck when I've spent big , cheap and cheerful have done me proud , my other half must have spent her life walking in dog poo as she always seems to end up quids in .
Hello all.
Some of you here already know me..a few have met me.
I am John, a SAAB fan and owner of a 1962 2 stroke 96 plus a couple of mid 80's SAABs. I have had about 20 SAABs and a wide range of cars dating from the early 60s to the late 80's.
I live in Worthing , West Sussex and i am a driver for hire.
I have helped a friend clear 3 generations of clutter from a well known garage over the past year, a very sad time as the 1920's art-deco building has just been levelled to make way for more houses.
Heres a picture of the garage circa 1966
Heres my two stroke and my 900's.

Hi Rick. Yes Lesley Ballamy was one of the family members but when the Ballamys moved out of London after WWII he went off in a different direction. I have a few interesting items from LMB , litriture and a few "experimental" items. I have been busy recently but i will dig the bits out and you guys here will be the first to see them since the 50's
Admin.. if these are in the wrong area please feel free to move them.
Here are more Ballamys pictures...down the road from the workshop was a show room...Ballamys sold Peugeout from approx 1947-1995 DAF from 1965-? and SAAB (the 3rd UK dealership) from 1961-2006 (but only up-to 1998 from this showroom) Later they sold Hyundi from here until 2005.
This building has also been levelled for more houses.
Photos taken circa 1965.

wow great looking place, did you find the Saab wall sign when rooting thru and tidying up before demolition?
When fettling up an Amazon I went to an old garage that was closing on the Wirral, that was a former Saab and Volvo dealership and the amount of NOS spares they had at the back was amazing, wish I'd had deeper pockets and bought the lot - new Amazon doors, badges and so on (same for Saabs). I picked up some new headgaskets for the Saab 95 and they went with it when it was sold.

As a newbie, I would like to introduce myself. I live near Armagh in N. Ireland and work as renewable energy consultant. Our (my son and I) first venture into old stuff was a TVO Ferguson. The disease took hold badly and now we have 7 tractors- 1 petrol, 2 diesel( one was owned by N. Riding CC), 1 FE35 Fergusons, a Fordson N, a Farmall Cub (one of the 1st imports into France after WW2) and a very rare Valmet 20 which came from an island off Finland. There are also various implements.
On the car front, there is a 1946 Morris 8 Series E -fully painted etc awaiting being build up (when I ever get the seats back) , a 1936 Austin 10 which is being restored (all mechanical and welding work done) and an immaculate 11 year old SL 320. Oh I nearly forgot, there is a Clan Crusader shell with most parts awaiting a sale or biulding up (plus 1986 Alfa Romeo 2 dr coupe was to be donor but not now needed as I got an engine and gearbox)
