Long before I got into classic cars, I always had motorbikes, ranging from BSA A10's to Nortons and BMWs
Now that the Singer is running sweetly and providing many miles of smiles my thoughts have turned to another project, no room for another car so a bike it had to be..

I cant believe the cost of the usual classic stuff, even the bikes that would be classed as quite poor models fetch huge sums!!!!!.
So, ive been looking in the usual places to no avail.

Requirements were:

Cheap.
Complete.
Good spares availability.
Around 500-650cc and fairly lightweight (we are all getting older)

Went to see a few bikes, all either overpriced or tatty.
Had a few searches logged and this popped up last week..

A few years younger than I originally wanted but it is 34 years old and with only 29k (genuine) on the clock and being a 650cc fits the bill perfectly.
Whilst its in superb original condition, it has been laid up for 5 years since its owner (an elderly bloke) passed away so will need some spanner time :0)
Its due to arrive on friday so stand by for more info

No, sadly not british but then again probably wont need as much fettling as a british bike and several ££££ cheaper than a british bike in similar condition. Whilst I would have loved to get another Norton, I wasnt prepared to pay in excess of £5k for a nice example.
It will do the job im sure :0)

It was only after I had bought it that I worked out its age!
I had an rs100 in 1983 and that one was only 2 years old!

Looking forward to getting it

I owned an R65, with the RT fairing for a while, until I responded to my father in laws please to sell it to him, as he was getting older and the Venom was getting tricky for him to start. Resorted bak to the K100,finding the power refreshing and easier to ride.

Is the venom still about?

My last BMW was an RS100 but it was way too big for what I want hence going for the lighter and more nimble 650, Power/weight is comparable to the BSA A10 (build quality is far higher though) and it rides as well as the Norton Commando I used to have.

Getting into the bmw refurb now.
Front end has been off, all the awful gold paint has been removed, the front callipers have been stripped and rebuilt and all reassembled (just the flexis to be connected and lines bled then it can be turned round to sort the gold paint on the rear half.

Quite impressed with the vht caliber wrinkle paint too!
