Im rewiring my old Morris 12v.
Can someone tell me the size (mm sqd) for the 2 wires that go to the ignition coil.
Ive done them in 1 mm . Now im thinking this may be incorrect.
Thanks
Mike

All down to loading current (Amps).

This handy little calculator will assist.

For cars with cotton-braided wiring Lucas employed standardised colours for particular purposes. Therefore, if you buy the correct colour cabling according to the original wiring diagram it should be of the correct cross-sectional area for the current.

1mm2 14/0.3mm will take 8.75Amps and so will be ok for the coil as they normally draw between 4 and 6Amps. The diagram I have for the Minor shows that the cable going from the coil CB to the distributor should be white and black and the cable from the fused supply to the coil SW should be white. Hope this helps.

Here's a couple of additional guides which may be of interest.

I'd be careful about relying on this now. Nobody is manufacturing cotton braided cable as per original any more; instead they take standard modern cable and apply braiding so it looks like the original. Obviously there's room for error with this approach, and you should bear that in mind.
