Peter, just looked at your end-to-end weighing system, seems very similar to mine using wood and spirit level!

Hi Ka,

Were your knife edges bits of bent metal too?

Those little electronic scales are really good for the job.

I found two options on this and tried both, and old gudgeon pin, and a knife edge as yours. The gudgeon pin gave better alignment for the rods, the sharp edge more movement for the rod on the scales.
And yes, I also went for a sharp edge!

Sorry for the late thanks

Thank you Peter and KA, I was more interested as a read than any thing else.
At that price I'm not surprised it is still on long term loan from the library, 2007.
Now I have the ISBN I can keep a look out.

Soon be back on the road after a long term layup, last time out was end of June.

This book is still available from smallfordspares.
And not at "get rich quick" exorbitant prices

Mine arrived this morning for £18.50

You may also find "The Ford Ten Competition Engine, A complete tuning manual" worth a read. Written by Philip H Smith, A.M.I. Mech.E.
This was published by G T Foulis and Co, London in 1958, but still may be available from Flea bay.
Just had a quick Google, try:-
