It has spent most of its life in California. It was imported almost a year ago by a chap in Scotland who runs a business importing "classic" American cars, called "Rock N Roll Motors".
I bought it just before Christmas. Although the paintwork is scruffy, it is totally un-rusty underneath etc - it is really solid and "straight". It starts and drives OK.
I am getting stuff done to it at the moment, the wipers did not work (fairly key in the British winter!) and I have had it changed from 6 volt to 12 volt electrics, just because otherwise it is impractical to use with any modern accessories, and it makes jump starting impossible!
Here's a couple more pics

I'd never seen one until this at Watkins Glen. Not the same model of course, but I had never heard of the marque until then.
I just love those doors! |

It's a 1953 Kaiser Deluxe.
Kaiser cars were only made from 1948 to around 1955. After that, having taken over Willys-Overland, they carried on making Jeeps and Jeep-derived 4x4s for ages.

I love this 1956 American bumper sticker! That's "California for Ike" as in Eisenhower for president in 1956, when this car was 3 years old.

Wow, are those short shops or is it a very long car! Good find, nice to see an unusual 50's orphan instead of the usual GM, Mopar or Ford. My dream car is a Hudson Hornet, but I cannot afford the divorce......... |

Lowdrag - those pics you posted are of the Kaiser Darrin sports car.

Interesting car - fibreglass body and those unique sliding doors. |

My Kaiser doesn't have a ridiculously massive engine - its a 3.7l straight six.
Married to a GM Hydramatic 4 speed automatic transmission, which fortunately seems to work just fine. |

ONce its going properly I shall take it up Ace Cafe in NW London for their classic car evenings, when the weather gets a bit warmer. I'll bet no-ones ever even seen one "in the flesh" before. |
