I am not going to go on about it much here as there is a Forum elsewhere (believe it or not Rolling Eyes) which is specifically for this rare model.
But I thought it only fair to update as to the progress of my Fiat collection.

That looks very handy - by all means go on about it here too Smile

I was looking at an advert for a similar model of Fiat camper, albeit a very rusty one, only a day or two back. It's not far from here, but advanced rot in the gutters probably renders it beyond viable/sensible saving.

Lovely! I always fancied one of those; in fact I still have the brochure for one tucked away somewhere.

Nice one! Quite a collection of Fiat going on now.
You just need to decide when to build the roof top test track Wink

Look forward to hearing more about this new adventure Cool

Must be entertaining on a windy day, or even a windy night!

Thanks for all the encouraging comments. In order to avoid the wind issue I will avoid legumes when driving the van Smile
I will keep you updated on progress which so far amounts to spending £1000 on new panels from Italy. Rolling Eyes

I had the earlier 850T "Amigo"
Back in the late 80's I went to Strawberry Fair in Cambridge and it rained..a LOT..all of my mates were in tents that flooded so by 5am there were 6 of us, wet and stinking, in it.
Hated driving it in high wind..almost uncontrollable.

Hi
With the bed hanging out to one side like that, I think I would like to have two upright bracing poles along with a couple of diagonal braces as well.

I particularly like the "boots at ready" just like in fire halls. Very handy for that sudden, middle of the night dash to the washroom.

May I add my comment about keeping the photos coming, even video. Your trips in the 500 are pleasant to watch.

Thanks for the positive comments Peter. I will certainly keep this thread
well illustrated.
I'm on holiday now so nothing new to upload. But even now I am planning ahead and ordered a busload of new panels from an Italian supplier I discovered. I will be replacing rather than repairing every panel other than the passenger door and the passenger rear wheelarch/window panel. I hope that speeds things up as there is a lot of underbody work to do.
oh, and the van does have a porta potty under a seat but I will be binning that.
Stripdown starts next week.

I love it, can't figure out how to make and access the bed in the canopy though!

Kev, no real way to access the beds. They're low enough for an adult to hop up and a small child could be lifted. The way it folds you can leave the mattresses in place and I guess the same with sleeping bags on.

Is it a single bed?

The van has double bed above the cab and a single online with the vehicle. I plan to make it possible to have the cab convert to a double for occasional use.
This is a vehicle that looks small next to an Escort type van!
