Hi all
Stuart and Myra here in Tynemouth. Just bought "Russell" ( the Boy Scout character from the film UP.)
a 1956 or 57 Willerby Vogue for restoration.
Serial No 3092 B
It isn't it too bad a condition, was able to tow it from Leicester to Tynemouth last week, no problem. A frame, floor pan, suspension, bearings, hitch and brakes all good.
Still on the original 2" hitch. Chassis has a plate attached "Willerby M/C Ltd Heywood Lancs. can't make out the serial No yet.
"and I thought it was a Yorkshireman"
Work needed on the 4 corner stabilisers / stress cracks. But the structure around the A frame is good.
3 or 4 dings to the outer shell and a small crack in the roof.
Am told by the PO it was on a site in Skegness for a couple of generations then made it's way back to the owners near Leicester.
Most of the interior fittings now removed, templates a plenty for the new interior.
Scrapping down the exterior to find the full extent of any damage.
Sliding window mechanism was just a pile of rust in the drain channel, so anyone know where I can get these mechanisms ????
Also sadly missing one of the main window frames ( Top hinged 1 of 4 ) again any info as to where we can get a replacement greatly appreciated.
Have looked at the previous "Willerby Vogue" posts. Some really helpful information there.

No interior or have you stripped it out for the restoration? _________________ I can resist anything except temptation ! ( Oscar Wilde)

Managed to put in a few more hours on " Russell " the 1956/7 Willerby Vogue.
New flooring going in, section by section after floor and stabiliser mountings repaired. Not too bad on the Rear Passenger Side floor.
Some previous repairs on the Rear PS outer shell need to be taken out and made good.
Here's a link to the Photobucket album with the latest photos added.
Cheers
Stuart

Hi all, still making steady progress despite the cold temperatures, tarpaulin cover and a fan heater let me continue with fibreglassing work.
Started the inner skin reinstatement and repair now. What a wonderful thing Cleco Pins are.
All the old paint on the inner skin now removed and sanded off, filler going on over the fibre glassed repair joints and inner skin being bonded to the floor.

Very impressed! What internal finish have you used? Looks very crisp indeed.

Thanks for the reply to my posts and the compliments, appreciated.
We have used the original framing where possible and reclad in a 4mm Light Oak veneered ply, al la the original ( courtesy of my cabinet maker cousin Alan ) . 3 or 4 coats of a satin varnish ( Myra, my wife ) so it tones with the original solid oak timber sections ( shelving, door trim, skirting etc)
