isn't stripping out classic caravans fun, our Tourcruiser is rotten, but not scrap. She needs lots of love and new timber framing we have the rails off and the front and rear windows out, she was made with ALDE central heating that is trashed and that is the problem, I will be slowly removing all the pieces and when its all out deciding what I will do a new system will be around £3 grand WOW

we started on the rear as it looked the worst, its all been replaced and strengthened where needed, We are now waiting for some favourable weather to seal her up, the first skin on the inside has been replaced and the bed lockers are sorted ready to go back in when I have done the door frame and replaced the ALDE heating pipes
new cushions and fabric are here ready to start the upholstery so thing are moving all be it very slowly as we are working out doors

In my experience the ALDE heating systems are very good until they go wrong then its just too expensive I would just change it for blown air heating as its a better long term proposition

the van was made with an ALDE 2090 heating system from new and is double skinned to allow for the pipes and radiators, There is a boiler cupboard between the toilet and the wardrobe to the ALDE unit. We looked Replacing the ALDE unit with blown air, but came to the conclusion it was the same price as the ALDE unit and would mean cutting holes in all the units also we would have to have a hot water heater separate from the boiler
ALDE have said they can make us a brand new 2093 unit, and we will be using the original rads connected to the boiler with plastic HEP pipe the boiler will have hot water and be dual fuel
my son is a heating engineer so we should be ok these units have been around for a long time

I dint think about the hot water.
I believe they are used a lot on canal barges dut to them being so compact.
At least you are able to carry out the install your self

well everyone
Maggie is coming on slowly all the timbers in the rear, nearside, and front have all been sorted, and the interior panel damage replaced with plain ply where it is not seen.
The lockers have been trial refitted and the central heating pipes are now going in.
ALDE have found us a 2923 boiler and that will be coming in from Sweden in a couple of weeks
The main problem now is how do we get 4 coats of brushed paint of the roof and front panel
On a funny note when I rebuilt the front I replace the curved front panel with a straight one for ease of fitting and I was 3/4 inch short when I fitted the locker tops but a quick cut on the arm saw sorted that and no one will know but me ?? Cool Wink
