Hi all,

Following on from the smart two-door Skoda mentioned here in recent times, how about its load-lugging brother?

Years ago I found a van version of the Octavia (why didn't I see if it was for sale or not? doh), it shared its basic shape with the estate/combi version.

This has a utilitarian feel to it, but is still quite a good-looker IMO Smile

Nice huh?

Some time back in the sixties, my father was in business, we were offered 2 new Skoda Octavia at rock bottom price by the then new Skoda dealer.

The dealer was anxious to get some of these cars onto local roads. However, and by what means, the local Ford dealer, (my Dad and I loved Fords) got to hear of it and came in with an offer of their own. Not as low cost as the Skoda by a long way but attractive enough to make us stay.

My Mum was pleased as she didn't care for them and as for me, it just didn't seem to be the look for a young guy around town..

The dealership didn't last that long. Perhaps the styling just didn't suit many.

I've always had a soft spot for the old Skodas, and if this was available at its starting price of £6,000 I would be tempted - but I see he has a higher reserve; sorry, if it's much more money there are other cars out there I would sooner have.

That is a nice estate. My dad had an Estelle in the 80s. Not too bad but very noisy.

Smile yes I spotted that van earlier today - probably not the van I saw at the side of a road, but the same type definitely. It reminds me of the Saab van I found years ago in some ways.

Hi
Why on earth don't people orientate photos correctly before they upload them to eBay?
