A fleet of these, Reliant Regal vans arrived here in Betws y Coed in 1971/72.

They did not last long, rough roads and the general abuse Royal Mail vans suffer in a hilly and rural area soon took their toll.
The Reliant vans suffered most on farm tracks and upland rural roads where their single front wheel hit any hidden obstacle hidden by the grassy centre.
How many different makes, types or model of Royal Mail delivery vans can you remember in years gone by?[/img] _________________ Starting Handle Expert

My late father in law ran the post office garage in Corwen for many years, he loved telling me about all the various models that they serviced. Vivas, escort, Morris 1000, landrover etc

I have seen a couple of GPO and Royal Mail articulated BMC lorries restored, there is a lot of interest in them.
On a similar note, just up the road from us there always used to be stored a couple of BBC outside broadcast Bedford lorries. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |
