|
|
Hi all,
Well the title says it all really. I have cleaned and regreased the front bearings on my Mk1 project and realized the hub seals are the wrong ones. Most vendors don't even deal with Mk1 parts, so I am hoping there might be some fans/owners here that might be able to help me find the right ones. Please get in touch - thanks, Chris, in Germany |

Hi Chris,
I have no knowledge of MkI parts but surely there must be commonality of parts with either the XK120 or 140 or the MkVII.
Please tell us the Jaguar part number.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for tuning on here.
No commonality with the XK140 unfortunately, I checked the parts manual. I couldn't check MkVII, VIII or IX as I don't anything that detailed on those cars.
The parts numbers are as follows
C.9049 Oil Seal Assembly (complete unit)
C.8702 Oil Seal (Felt)
C.8703 Retainer (for Oil Seal)
I'm writing this from my phone. I'll post more details on my small Jag collection later today.

Hi Chris,
The MkIV, V, VII, VIII & IX all appear to use the felt seal C.615 as do the XKs.
Is this the part that you have tried and found not to fit?
I see the MkII uses something different. If it is the MkII one you have tried I'd be tempted to try the C.615 even though it's not the part number that you have.
SNG Baratt stock C.615. It's just a simple felt washer.

Hi Peter,
I called SNG yesterday and they confirmed that the parts listed for the MkVII also fit the Mk1. I've ordered them, but won't get too excited before they get here.
Rick was kind enough to move my add over here (and he kept it here!) as I probably violated all T&Cs for placing adds. Thanks, Rick.
I have started a thread on my Mk1 over at the Jaguar forum. Please stop by and have a look everbody.
