I've known about this old US Army truck for 30 years. It changed hands many times and now it looks like it will be loaded on a freight truck and sent off to places unknown.

1956 GMC 2 1/2 Ton 6X6
Huge inline 6 petrol engine
Allison automatic transmission
some serious low gears available with the transfer cases

Just to be a bit pedantic, isn't a "deuce and a half" actually three?

Shall I get me coat? Smile

Joined the forum recently, hence my scanning of old posts!

The duel rear wheel set up is unusual for the Canadian armed forces as (they) tend to prefer a single wheel configuration for 6x6's … generally referred to as Eager-beavers. Given it's age perhaps this one escaped from the US long ago Confused

You are right Norseman it is a US truck.
I knew the late owner who brought it up from the states loaded with everything you could think of on building a wilderness homestead. It towed a trailer with more homesteading equipment.
