Hi

I'm having a 1968 Triumph GT6 restored - I'm sourcing parts and skills, but not capable of doing really. I live in Derbyshire and want to find a recommended body shop, that can do a great job for a really good useable car- but won't charge the earth. So far quotes are around £6-7K (the body will be fully welded and stripped, but need full prep and paint).
Does anyone know of a body shop that you have experience of and can recommend?

Thanks
Jim

Not on your door step but I can thoroughly recommend www.flatcapclassiccars.co.uk. He is a one man band and fairly busy. He is an enthusiast and a perfectionist!!

I have used Giacone Motor Engineers, Beechdale Road Nottingham. NG8 3EZ.
0115 929 9999.
They did my Daimler V8250 and made a handsome job of it. Very reasonable as long as you're not in a hurry. They do all kinds of body work and including Bentley and Rolls Royce accident repairs so are reputable.
At least this is more in your area.

Hi

Thanks for the leads, I will research a bit. Still happy to hear of any other places.
Impossible question, but what would you expect to pay? Fully stripped of parts and glass etc. All welding done. No prepfor painting done and it's a mixture of original paint and new panels.

Thanks
Jim

Every case is different but if there are no substantial welding jobs or rust to deal with and you are looking at a bare metal respray, somewhere between 3-5 K I would think, depending on the choice of paint, how many coats and level of reinstatement needed.

I can thoroughly recommend this place in Mansfield Woodhouse, it's where my Riley 1.5 is at the moment to be painted.
