Could anyone out there please tell me what colours the cables are to the ammeter and fuel contents gauge?

How do I find out when testing which way round these cables 'go' without damaging the above instruments?

Thanks in anticipation. Cheers, Tony.

Hi Tony,

This diagram gives the colours. Is it not correct?

The ammeter will not be harmed if you get the connections wrong it will just show discharge and charge reversed. The fuel gauge usually has little letters on the back something like "B" for battery (i.e. to the ignition switch) and "T" for tank. You won't damage it if wrongly connected.

Peter

They are the pre-war Lucas colours, Post war and then 1970's were extended and some quite different. Planty of choice on Google for the appropriate period/car maker

Hello Chaps, I am hoping to use modern colour coding for the following owner/caretaker of the trike.

Peter, I had previously scoured the back of the fuel gauge and saw nowt. But after reading your reply I had another look and there they are 'T' & 'B'. It's amazing what you see when you're informaed what you are looking for!

Many thanks for your continuing guidance. Very Happy Cheers, Tony.

He will be doing a lot of head scratching Very Happy
A matching wiring diagram to go with the vehicle would be the sensible thing.
