Morning all,
A brief foray north of the border, saw us recently visit the Dumfries & Galloway Aviation Museum, based at the former WW2 RAF airfield. The skies were somewhat leaden, which hampered photography slightly, but between the downpours we managed to take a few snaps of the exhibits present.
The preserved control tower in particular is impressive, as is the restored Spitfire which recently went on show in its own, purpose-built, building.
It was quite nostalgic to visit the ex-British Airways Trident 3b G-AWZJ fuselage. As a youth I spent many hours in the early 1980s plane-spotting at Manchester Airport, and Tridents were forever visiting, usually on shuttle flights back and forth between Manchester and Heathrow. A cockpit section of another 3b is also on display at the Solway museum, photos of which have already been uploaded to the forum.
