A conversation about plans for our 2018 vacation reminded me of an article I must have read over 50 years ago. Google "Louie Matters" will bring up numerous articles and photos.

Hi Peter,

I've seen this thing a few years ago. It really is crazy!
It is displayed with one of the wheel changing platforms deployed to permit a change whilst the car is in motion supported on secondary wheels to raise that corner.

Other essentials I seem to remember included a Hubble bubble pipe.

Peter

It reminds me of Austin's 7-day continuous running of an A90 Atlantic at Indianapolis, in 1949.

Didn't Morris do a similar thing with a series MO in the 50s. I seem to remember a record breaking run around Sebring or Daytona where they had a series MO artic. shaped like a pallet truck that the record breaker pulled into (a speed) and the mechanics were able to walk/work a long the side. I presume they did driver changes the same way. Does anyone remember this or is my medication playing up again?

Penman,

Thanks for that. I really enjoyed it. After I had posted I thought perhaps I had got mixed up with the Austin A90 Atlantic endurance run at Indianapolis.

Hi
I think that back then everyone was trying to find some sort of record to set.
The "He" is Tony Crook, at the time an enthusiast for the make and dealer and then later owner.
