Hi all,

This photo of a mystery body item popped up in a message I received today, does it ring a bell with anyone? It's in the UK.

It's certainly the rear of a Tickford cabriolet- the external operating mechanism is the give-away. The rear wing looks like an Austin (Ruby-style Seven or Ten) but I don't think it will be an Austin as they were both available as a factory cabriolet.

The 'Standard' giveaway is the slightly raised edge to the wing. Also, the shape of the rear is rather Rubyesque which is in contrast to the Salmons version of the Standard 10 which is much prettier in my opinion.

I hope it's not this one?? (a rare Salmons 12hp DHC).

Sadly, Ray, it looks like it may well be that Salmons 12hp; the pattern of red oxide paint on the rear wing looks remarkably similar Crying or Very sad

When I think back to my student days I tried to buy one like that in good condition for just £50 !

(My Dad wouldn't lend me the cash. He wasn't happy with pre war Standard brakes. Sad )
