Hi all,
I am trying to track down a gauge that is missing from my car. I thought if I could establish what other makes/models used this gauge I might have more hope of finding one.
The gauge is a round 2" Smiths gauge that has two drums in it that move around to indicate oil pressure and water temperature. It is mid 1930's vintage.
The only photo I have of the gauge is not great, it is the lower one in this scan from a book:
Any info would be greatly appreciated, especially if there is another make of car that used this type of gauge.
BTW - I have contacted CAI Smiths Instruments, but their website focusses on 1950s and later. Will see if they can shed any light.
Cheers,
Paul. _________________ 1963 Sunbeam Alpine Series 3

Wow, thanks very much Peter. Exactly what I'm looking for. That's great.
I'll be very interested to see the workings for the two drums.
Cheers,

Before committing I would ask seller to verify that the temp sie at least works - all that needs is a match under the relevant bulb. Oil press is less likely to fail, but capillaries are prone to cracks if moved too much.

And in a close to this thread...
I bought two unrestored gauges on eBay and had one good one made from the two. Very happy with the result.
The rolling drum gauge far left, with the rest of the refurbished instruments.
Thanks for the help with this.
Cheers,

Hi Paul,
Happy New Year.
That all looks very nice. What stage is the rest of your car at now? Photos please.
