Evening all,

Potentially a bargain buy as a project car, or beyond hope of recall? It certainly looks pretty dog-eared, the interior in particular lets it down. With the auction ending lunchtime on the 25th, when most people are otherwise engaged, could this sneak through as a bargain for someone, even taking into account the mammoth amount of work that'd be required?

To bring it back to as-new I think might be a stretch too far, but a few compromises with regard to originality could see it back on the road, perhaps as a characterful runaround rather than a show winner - maybe?? There's no mention of whether the rear wings are present or not, saying that the Standard club is pretty handy when it comes to sourcing bits.

The listing says pre-war, but with plain bonnet side panels, my guess is that it dates to the late 40s.

Post war, so just called a Standard 14, not a Flying 14. No bonnet vents and appears not to have knurled adjustment on the distributor.

I think it looks a bit too far gone and if you judged the cost of restoring it you would never take it on. It would be a very good source of spares though.

Maybe this is a more interesting buy, a very rare 1937 Standard Flying V Eight:

Now then, that V8 is something interesting?

Didn't I read somewhere that they got round Fords V8 slogon by using Roman numerals?

As proven by the strange badge on the grille:
