|
|
Hello All,
A couple of years back, I replaced the petrol tank on my 1936 Riley Merlin Saloon . The new stainless tank steel included a new floater with electric resistance. Unfortunately this modern floater gives an incorrect gauge reading. The petrol gauge was still working perfectly with the old tank & float but now has packed up.
My electric knowledge is minimal, but I've been told that the petrol gauge might be repaired and it is possible to recalibrate the modern float to the repaired gauge if you get the electrical resistance right.
Who can recommend a repair or reconditioning service for prewar Smith gauges? Any idea what this costs?
I've seen a link to a Smiths instruments supplier in Wales but they don't do prewar parts.
Thanks
