Good afternoon members.
As the bonnet(s) are off the vehicle dismantled and awaiting painting, I fling a piece of bed sheet over the engine after work is done for the day. The vehicle is in an unheated garage between two others.
Is this practice recommended or does some other material work better in protecting the engine from damp?

The engine is a VEE twin aircooled with oooodles of finning, I'de be there all day with an oily rag !
I just meant something to fling over to keep the dust off.

Not if you were to spray it with a thin (or thinned) oil from a cheap mister, fins or no fins. Stuff goes rusty overnight in this weather and can be most frustrating when so much time (and money) is spent getting them up together.
Otherwise, brushed cotton sheets are very good. My mum keeps me supplied with jumble sale sheets for a variety of uses, especially soft polishing. |
