This is a "must see" video for anyone who has an interest in Jaguar history.

SS = Swallow Special... from the great man himself.

Thank you Ray

A very enjoyable and interesting ten minute video. That man is a pleasure to listen to. The early Jaguar story from the horses mouth, so to speak.

How I wish I could still buy an SS100 for 12,500 pounds! Does anybody know when the interview took place?

Keith

Its weird being the same age as old people.
You are either part of the problem or part of the solution

Thanks for sharing this Ray, an interesting and enlightening piece of history.

Keith, it says in the video title 1977 and it was put on YouTube by Thames television.

The same man (foreground) about to race Heynes left and Newsome centre at Donnington in 1938 in three identical SS100s.

Guess who won?

(Without reference to the internet). Bill Lyons was first in SS100 (DHP 734, No.31) followed by Newsome (DDU 822, No.30) and Heynes (DHP 736, No.32)

It probably wouldn't do to beat the Boss at an SS Car Club "trade" race!

Indeed. Even if you are an experienced racing driver racing again those who have never raced before. Laughing
