Hi
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b09yn4rc/raf-100-huw-edwards-meets-the-air-chief-marshal

Therer are a few B/W clips included in this interview programme including an identifiable Douglas Bader getting aboard and taking off in his Spitfire DB.
I think this might be the first time I've actually seen him in real wartime footage.
This must be post March 18 '41 when he took over the Tangmere Wing because that was where he acquired the call sign DogsBody.

I have been watching quite a few programmes about the RAF 100. Its made me start thinking about a photograph I have of my Fathers uncle, a portrait shot of him in his RAF uniform. He died a couple years after the war at a young age and the family never talked about him.

I would love to find out more about him and what he actually did?

Although, with only his name and DOB / DOD I don't think I will get that far.

It might be worth a try via the Forces War Records site. You have to pay a modest monthly subscription (you can sign up for just one month, that's what I did), but - especially if he had a fairly distinctive name - you might bring something up.

Hi
Tried to pm you and got a DEBUG error message.
So:-

Hi
I have access to Find My Past and Ancestry dot com
Let me have a name and DoB or approx age and I will see if there is anything I can find to give you a start.
An idea about where he came from could help as well.

pm the reply if don't want to post details in public.

Hi Penman,
I have sent you a pm.
Of note, I registered on rootschat the other day, there are a lot of keen sleuths on there willing to help search for things. Another friendly forum.

Hi
PMs still playing up when sending.

I can't ID PSH either.

Suggest you go to pm system on Rootschat, you have enough posts now.
