Annual Festival of Black Country Vehicles Celebrates Manufacturing Heritage.

Sun 17th June

Black Country Living Museum is once again celebrating the region’s historic reputation as a car manufacturing giant at its annual ‘Festival of Black Country Vehicles’. A magnificent display of Black Country manufactured vehicles will be on show including world-famous brands such as Bean, Clyno, Westfield, Sunbeam, Diamond, Guy and AJS.

The area gained its reputation from the early 1900s when Black Country engineers turned their expertise to emerging technologies that made build pioneering vehicles possible. Wolverhampton-based Clyno was once the third largest car manufacturer in Britain, while AJS and Sunbeam carved out formidable reputations in TT races and land speed records.

The Black Country Living Museum is home to the largest collection of Black Country-manufactured vehicles anywhere in the world, including buses, motorbikes and cars. All of these vehicles are on display across the Museum’s 26 acre site in replica shops and garages that once existed in the region.

Visitors will also be able to take a ride on the Museum’s vintage bus, tram and trolley bus collection – the Museum boasts the longest trolley bus route in the country!

Tim Shields, the Museum’s Curator of Industry & Transport comments: “we are delighted to host this event for vintage vehicle enthusiasts everywhere. The Black Country has a well-deserved reputation for vehicle manufacturing, but this year we are extending the vehicles on show to the wider West Midlands area to introduce our new collection of 1930s-60s vintage vehicles donated by the Patrick Foundation. These will include cars from other regional manufacturing powerhouses such as Coventry and Birmingham.”

Visit bclm.com for more information – plus, you’ll get 12 months’ unlimited visits when you pay full price for a daytime ticket to this event.

Theey are very keen on authenticity NOT.
They have Bradford 735 Trolley masquerading as a Walsall vehicle in post-war Walsall livery.
