I’m with MikeC. While cycling to work each morning I passed the local chain work. The boss there had a Sunbeam Talbot 90 Supreme and Oh how I lusted after that car ( I still fancy them today). Those beautiful lines and the little teardrop door hinges. Gorgeous.

I think I could join this nostalgia session too. There were two Sunbeam Talbots near to my parents' house when I was a kid and I also thought they were lovely. One was owned by a nice gentleman who lived down the road from us and the other by the owner of Mackay's coaches who lived across the field at the back of our house.
The romance of successes in the Monte Carlo Rally was a big plus and later Peter Harper's book "Destination Monte" was a significant factor in my interest in Rootes cars.

It's quite a tight time frame but if I could stretch it to cover all of the fifties then I would choose a mk2 Ford Zephyr as I learned to drive in one and secondly a Triumph TR2 as I owned one when I was at Uni. I have fond memories of both of these cars. |

Providing it was the OHV engine I would have the Hillman Minx, as the last of the model range it was well built and well equipped and had good performance and economy for the time, the fact that my father had the earlier side valve version and I learned to drive in his later series III may have some influence. _________________ old tourer
