Another lovely weekend a Llangollen, though because of the dry weather and fire risk, all the trains were diesel hauled. A pity, but understandable.

I took my Firenza on Saturday, and the Sportshatch on Sunday. It's the longest trip the hatch has done since going back on the road late last year, and it performed well.

As usual, I didn't take many photos of the cars, sticking mainly to the railway and the scenery. I found a lovely new vantage point and intended to visit on the Sunday at a better time, but the temperature put me off.

My wife and I were in Llandudno Wednesday to Friday and the trains were all running with steam then. We did the Welsh highland railway from Carnarvon to Portmadoc and then the Festiniog to Blaenau Ffestiniog, finishing off with the Arriva mainline service back to Llandudno. A jolly long day out and in 32 degree heat it was a bit sticky but didn't daunt the guys stoking the engines, amazingly..

I imagine even this weather doesn't make much difference to the temperature on the footplate. An open firebox door would bring it to higher than that, wouldn't it?

Leyland Olympian I think, it was ex-Crosville, but much later, from the mid-80s. It was running trips to Corwen and back.

Yes, parked next to me as it turns out. I haven't booked the sixties weekend, as my car is from the seventies. I might look into it, see if they'll have it. I know they don't have date limits on CTW, but the event name of the sixties one suggests they might limit it more.
