Just turned on the TV and a new (to me) US car show is on, Detroit Steel. Its actually quite a good show and they are preserving vehicles aswel as customising.

I watched the last few minutes of that last night. Purely based on that bit, which I accept isn't much of a sample, I won't be wasting any time watching the rest.

Maybe they do some really interesting stuff in the rest of the programme, but it was ruined for me by the "major disaster" they conjured up (which of course was just after they'd "almost" missed a deadline) and the annoying way they told the audience the same thing three or four times.

I must be getting less tolerant. It's probably no different to "American Hotrod" which I used to quite enjoy.

Agreed it was the usual hyped up over the top US attitude but some parts I thought were ok.

One for non car people is Chasing Classic Cars on Quest - funny little(rich) man seems to spend more time in auctions than anything else.
My favourite is Fantom Works(the spelling is intended), also on Quest. Owned by a guy called Dan Short, the work they do in restorations is amazing & right up my street. He claims to be the largest restoration company in America(?)
& has top class engineers employed. Cheers,JD.

I quite like CCC as WC visits some very interesting garages.

Yes, Chasing Classic Cars is a favourite. Wayne not only finds many supercars but also some very interesting barn finds and some good 1930's US cars.

I really enjoy this American car show, they’re really nice people and they don’t shout and act the prat like so many, but they are religious, which seems to offend some Brits.

Have a look and let’s have some comments.

Why should their religious beliefs come into it? It they get some help from above then good for them. Wink

I admire them for bringing these derelicts back to life. I can see how it is a different approach to make something of the "heavy patina" but I would need to undergo a programme of re education to appreciate the look.

Good luck to the guys...and may their God go with them. Very Happy

Motor Trend has a whole raft of car related TV shows, some of which are very good, some awful, including Wheeler Dealers latest I’m told. It’s $3.99 a month. I’ve one or two friends who swear by it.

I watched a good Fantomworks last night, they got a 1947 Mack Fire engine going and it was a lovely sight seeing it running and on show.
