Running new Copper-Nickel brake lines on the underside of my Escort restoration means they flex and require slight adjustment when fitting. I want to paint or coat these new pipes so they look like the original green plastic coated ones. Is there a flexible paint/coating available that wont crack or peel when the pipes are fixed and manipulated onto the car. Thanks

I'd use green heatshrink, it will look much more like the original than painting will.

You will need to fit it before one of the brake nuts is fitted as it wont go over a fitted nut.

Or if you have not bought the pipe yet, olive green brake pipe is still available, this would be the best option as it is as original.

Thanks for the advise, I have bought the copper-nickel and I also bought a roll of gen Ford green steel pipe a while back, but with the steel being so hard how would I get the sharp angles required using basic tools. I can get good results with the copper bending tools, but the tighter angle tool I have wont bend steel.

I would never refit steel Bundy painted or bare as unseen corrosion will occur easily. The stuff is easier to bend than Kunifer but new copper is easiest but can work harden and fracture if not supported adequately.

Originality over safety has to be balanced

I painted my perfectly good, replacement brake pipes last year and got an advisory observation from the MOT-man that the paint obstructed his ability to check their condition. Rolling Eyes

That is the point - paint can hide a multitude of problems.

There were also varying discussions regarding the spreading of grease on steel brake lines...
