Just a heads up for everyone. I recently purchased an exchange shock absorber from xxxx xxxxx for my A30. The cost was £210 with an assurance I would receive £120 back when I sent back the old part. I was informed that if there is any horizontal movement in the old part it would be scrap. Prior to ordering the part I asked the garage mechanic the state of the old shock absorber, and he informed me that it offered little residence but was in good condition. Another very experienced mechanic replaced the part for me, and also informed me that the old part showed no sign of wear, and just required servicing. Needless to say I inspected the part myself and found there was no lateral or horizontal movement. At the cost of £15 I returned the part. After two emails, a phone call, and ten days later I got an email from them telling me that the part was scrap as the arm had horizontal movement. I insisted they send the part back, which they now have. I have checked it again, and had a third mechanic inspect it, who informed me the shock absorber is fine.
I have since heard a few bad stories about their customer services. Needles to say I will only use them in emergency cases now. Buyer beware !!
(company specifics removed, RJ)

While I understand your frustration, specific accusations to a named company by an anonymous poster cannot be accommodated on here, partly because the accused is not able to present their side of the situation without first registering.
I'm not in a position to act as judge and/or referee in any ongoing discussions that might result regarding this topic, and have no wish to be involved in any legal issues that could arise as a result of specific allegations being made here.
thanks, RJ. _________________ Rick - Admin

I accept that, but for those wondering who it is, the first name is (removed, RJ).
Strange though, I have a similar post on another Austin forum without complaint |

Whether another forum is happy for you to name names, then so be it, but not here thanks.

I agree with you Rick...[wouldn't dare do anything else? ]
Just to pick up on a point raised earlier, about 'exchanges'.....often a component may well have wear, but could still be useable, etc....but when it comes to remanufacturing, that component may well be 'outside tolerances'...?
If in doubt, a personal visit with said item could save ultimate grief? The price of dedication to the hobby? _________________ Dellow Mk2, 1951 built, reg 1952.
