I remember, certainly into the 1960's, the Fire Engines in Barnsley UK would be fitted with chains during the winter.

Interesting to see that this unit had been given a name "Rosie".

There are those who would prefer not to see "female names" associated with such things. One can be so easily offended Wink

Question? The photo has been dated as 1927. ? Question

Interesting, later than 1920s, early '40s more like - probably a Ford.
