There's some excellent footage in this film, not just of aircraft but of lorries, diggers and crawlers ...

Lots of interesting vehicles, I know everything has to start from somewhere but its hard to imagine the size of the place now.

Hi
I went there once when the huts and tents were the terminal alongside the A4.
later cycling there to plane watch from the top of the Queens Building in the central area.
Strange, that it had 6 runaways and now they need a third.

I was looking forward to seeing that film, but us "foreigners" aren't allowed to see it!

Thank you Mr Penman,

I thoroughly enjoyed the early days of Heathrow.

Did you notice the couple doing the concrete compression testing? No shields on the machine, no safety glasses, rolled up sleeves. Wow! Occ. Health and Safety would have kittens nowadays!

As Rick commented, the aircraft and machinery was well worth watching.
