Aft'noon all,

While the old adage "everything that glistens isn't always gold" is always worth bearing in mind when viewing photos on the 'net, on the face of it this well-presented, part-restored, '36 Minx appears to have plenty going for it, including still sporting its original registration number according to the seller (although the listing says that the car wasn't registered until 1945, which is unusual). Could it have been re-registered at some point?

Depending on what's still required to complete the restoration, maybe it's not too far off from being roadworthy and out for this year's events?

It seems its original colour was blue? [The interior & under bonnet photos make it look like purple!]
I wonder if it was an ex-military staff car?

There's something odd with that logbook: it shows date of first registration as October 1945, and yet the first tax payment was January 1945!

And OS 4100 dates from December 1935, so no, it's not been re-registered.

This would be an ideal car for Vulgalor!

Being a Hillman follower I have been watching this one, I am surprised it hasnt any bids at that start price.
But like you chaps, there seems to be something not quite right. The seller doesn't go into much detail about why it has the 1945 reg date.

Hi
The log book has Duplicate written at the top.

Perhaps it had been laid up during the war and was being re-registered in a different county.
Correction it isn't that:
The reg No is Wigtown and I see Wigtown on the stamps.
The top reg square on the page of stamps doesn't have a Stamp so I would think that is a record of the previous payment needed because it is a duplicate
