I'm not usually here for Drive it Day, but all I've got to qualify is my 1987 camper, which I use most days, so it won't be any different!

No plans for us but we might pop out to see a local gathering.

Well all being well the weather will be a little more appreciative of aged metal tomorrow, so we'll nip out in little Dodge and watch a local classic lorry run go by.

I thought it would be an opportunity to visit an elderly chap who I have known since moving to Derbyshire 20 years ago. He is 87 but until recently still enjoyed his classic motorcycles. Unfortunately a slight stroke caused him to have a car accident but he is not the type to give in easily and now gets about on an electric bicycle!

There seems to be far fewer old boys who can remember the pre War vehicles when they were everyday transport. We always enjoy a chin wag.

I must admit to being very disappointed down here in Wales. I haven't seen anything! And the sun's been out!

For the first time I didn't get out on Drive It Day, but I thought reassembling my rear brake with a new cylinder trumped it. It's always handy to have brakes.
I'll bleed them tomorrow with my ancient, but oh so useful, Gunsons Easibleed.

I also had a complete absence of sightings. I didn't go far so can't complain.

Until Rick started this thread yesterday I had forgotten it was this weekend. I never bothered myself not least because the weather was pretty average here. I have done some miles today though in the modern and don’t recall seeing anything. Personally I think it’s now a bit of a non event. I remember the first ever drive it day there were dozens and dozens of cars out, it seems to me as each year has gone by there have been less and less.......or am I alone with these thoughts?

I have a feeling that there is less interest in old cars than there used to be. We are being made to feel ashamed of driving polluting vehicles; on a par with smoking and drink / driving. The general public are not and never have been that bothered about our hobby.

I think it a non-event when we are encouraged to go out for one day. now & again, to exercise our old vehicles....almost as if someone has decided we don't normally use our vehicles enough?
I go out in one or other of my oldies whenever I feel like it...or need to run an errand.
So if next Thursday morning happens to be another designated drive-it day..than then my appearance driving an old car with gusto, will be a pure coincidence....

Or, tomorrow tea-time?
