Also, I think the [passenger] door is partly open? Ford Model Ys had doors with rear hinges....

Hi
You're correct in that the door is front hinged and has a straight trailing edge so is probably not a rear passenger door, the reg. number appears to be M or N or W with LG or possibly UG( I zoomed in) but those dates wouldn't seem to fit with that body style.

There was a Brookfield Mill just south of Chesterfield, in Old Tupton. The area was redeveloped in the 1960s. I don't recognise the hillside in the background, but that could be the location.

Here it is - the development I recall was on the other side of the road, the mill buildings are still there. Your photo is looking South West towards Ashover; the map reference is 378641

The Mill is on Press Brook, directly opposite the Mill Hotel marked on the map.

Hi
1962 old map of Mike C's reference. Called Woodthorpe Mill on the map.
https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/437667/364212/12/100954

Old Mills database shows it as Batemans Mill, you need to zoom in to the east of Alton to see this reference and it isn't one of the mills for which they have full details.

Nowadays Batemans Mill Hotel

That is Woodthorpe House; south of Woodthorpe House is Field House Farm, and Brookfield Mill is/was to the north-east on the stream. Batemans Mill is/was Woodthorpe Mill on the other side of the road.

I've highlighted the two mills on the 1960s map here:

... but I am relying on my memory from sixty years ago ... Wink

The car on the right could be a Vauxhall.

Great info. Thanks all. I have passed a link on to my enquirer, so he may pop in for a look.

Could be a late 1930s Humber?

Edit: I think it's a 1947/48 Humber Hawk.

Evening all,

Another oddball photo, this arrived today requiring id. Any ideas? the body looks a bit simplistic - possibly homebuilt? - but the rad I don't recognise offhand. Taken circa 1950. OV is a Brum reg. from about 1931/1932.

Agree with the Humber Hawk, late 40's model.
