Here I am!
I agree, a late Singer 10/26 (1927-ish, earlier versions had quarter elliptic front springs) or early Singer Senior (the same basic car with a new name to tie in with the new Junior); I'll go for \Senior, as I think the 10/26 had a vertical windscreen.
... and yes, the red car in the background is a 1934 Singer Nine Le Mans. _________________ in the garage: 1938 Talbot Ten Airline

The actual race cars suffered steering failure which couldn't have helped sales much!
Only four Le Mans replicas were built by the factory...I understand they all survive. |

Ah, yes, the unfortunate 1½ litre TT cars; steering failure on all four cars because the scrutineers did not like the special steering links fitted, so they were changed for standard production items which were not up to the job... On such trivialities are a company's reputation destroyed.
The red car in the photo is a Nine with standard slab-tank bodywork. _________________ in the garage: 1938 Talbot Ten Airline

Hi
It may not be possible to ID the make and model but even an idea as to the earliest possible date would be of assistance.

The earliest date, I would say , is 1902 and French. Judging by the juxtaposition of the Driver and the scuttle I would suggest De Dion Bouton rear entrance tonneau. It could of course be another "coal scuttle" bonnet car like Mors for example but the detail is unclear. |

I think this is one of the most tantalising photo mysteries that we have had to date. I think it is probably English. The radiator has a thin chrome strip down the middle like a BSA - but the thin chrome surround is more reminiscent of a Hillman but that has either a wider central bar or none at all. Neither cars hinge front and rear doors from the B pillar so that rules them out unless it is coach built.
There are a few cars which have front and rear doors hinged from the B pillar; late 30's Morris for example but it's not Morris. There is no boot and the spare wheel is attached directly to the rear body. This is a rather archaic feature. No boot for this era is odd especially considering there is no trunk/ side mount combination. The windscreen also is unusual.
It really is a mystery. Not anything like it in Georgiano, on line, or anywhere in my old car library as far as I can see.
Maybe it is a one off.? |

I think that is a bit like Ford. Frustrating that there is so little detail. I keep thinking I have missed something. |

The nearest I have been able to get is the 1933 Fiat 518 Ardita L. series 2
It was made as a 7 seater in 1750 40hp or 2 litre 45hp 4 cylinder guise.
(there was also a sports saloon and a 2 door tourer.)
The above seems to be an improved model with boot and twin side mounts. Quite nice in it's way.
I may be wrong but the one below is the closest I have come so far.

I think you've got it, Ray. I thought the radiator grille looked like a Fiat, but I didn't think they came that big! I wouldn't worry about the body style - it could easily be a coachbuilt one. _________________ in the garage: 1938 Talbot Ten Airline

It's certainly very close but the mystery car appears to have a straight top to the windscreen whereas the 518 photos show a curved top. There's also a lip or swage line round the rear wheel arch that is missing in the 518.

A couple of suggestions to ponder:
1933-4 Peugeot 301
1934 Renault Vivastella or similar? _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |
