There's a letter in the November Classic Cars magazine (thanks for the tip-off Brian M), written by a gent who worked for Connaught in the early 1950s.
In his correspondence, he recalls the day in 1952 that he (in Connaught's Ford transporter) and Poore's two mechanics (in the Dodge), undertook a transporter race to Scotland, both lorries carrying racing cars, parts etc.
I just got off the phone from him now, I'll add in more details of the at-times side-by-side race shortly, once I've organised my hastily-scribbled notes from this evening.

I was fortunate enough to receive a small set of photos in the post today, out of the blue, featuring the Alfa while on display in the Donington museum, some time in the early 1990s. In the background of one is the Dodge, parked alongside the BRM Leyland Tiger.
Did anyone visit the museum back then, and take a photo of the truck while it was parked there? A long shot I know, but, well, you never know....!
thanks

Hi Rick
There is another Dodge "bus" picture turned up on OBP, chassis/cab conversion not coachbuilt like yours.

It might5 be one you've heard about during your researches _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

Hi Rick
If you go to http://www.sct61.org.uk/ and click on the Southend page (top menu) then side menu Fleet Lists, Buses: the fifth link down gives access to three pictures and lots of text (different on each pic) some refer to your Dodge. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

There was great excitement (!) a few moments ago. While perusing Youtube, looking for interesting old footage, what should pop up but two amateur films posted by the National Motor Museum back in August, of hillclimbs in 1951.
The jolly green giant appears in the first film on a number of occasions, Prescott is given as the location, some scenes also have the Alfa in the foreground. Up until now, the only video footage I'd seen of the truck were a few brief seconds of footage taken at the Rest & Be Thankful hillclimb in Scotland, in around 1952, with the car being backed out of it. Here though it appears in a few different scenes, and for longer.

RJ | I wonder if any of those three tonners are still here today? |
