I went over to the States for Christmas to visit my girlfriends parents and we took a trip to her Uncles where she told me about a car in his garage she really liked that had been sitting there for 10 years, I was gobsmacked to find this when I took a peak:
Her uncle has hinted that she might have it as a wedding present one day.... _________________ 2013 Dodge Durango R/T Hemi

Ah yes that's Kirby's, I've been going there for years. Everything old or interesting gets put in one corner of the yard where it sits until it's completely stripped down. Some cars have been in there for 10 years or more, quite famous around these parts. Brian M took the sunroof out of that white Amazon to put in his one (I wonder if he's fitted it yet?) _________________ Richard Hughes |

Yes, your friend is correct. The colour was known as Signal Yellow and could only be ordered on RS Fords - ie RS 2000, RS Mexico and certain Capris. There was another "Signal" colour as well - Signal Green.
Edit 6/01/12
There was another "Signal" colour as well as Signal Yellow and Signal Green - Signal Orange, again available only on RS Escorts and presumably Capris as well. I know nothing about RS Capris.
Can somebody furnish some further information about them, please. _________________ Starting Handle Expert

Well I can tell you a little bit about RS Capri's, This is one that My Friend used to own, It's a Capri RS 2600 which is far rarer than the Capri RS 3100, He bought it for £15000 about 3 Years ago and sold it over a year ago for £20,000 it was then sold on at Auction at Goodwood for £33,350!!!!!
If you click on the Bonhams auction Link at the bottom of the Page it tells you a bit about RS 2600 Capri's!
This is me delivering it to it's new owner

Thank you - that was an interesting answer.
I had heard of the RS3100 but not the RS2600.
Out of curiosity, what year was the blue RS2600? From the photos it looks to be one of the early versions, ie 1969 - 1972. _________________ Starting Handle Expert

When the Capri first appeared in the yard I did wonder if it was a prototype or ex press car, being such an early MK3 with the local reg and pressed numberplates, which I think Ford used at the time. Certainly the press car (Autocar?) VHK 494S did. A shame, but it was very far gone.
On the other side of the yard they have a fenced off area with cars for sale, currently they've got a Riley Kestrel (HYN 623C) and MGB roadster (WHJ 600J), both of which look like they've been sitting outside for 20 years and are too far gone to realistically restore sadly. There's no floor left in the Riley (but it does have a good rear bumper, which I want for my 1100 as the last owner reversed into a lamp post and damaged it). _________________ Richard Hughes |

The RS2600 is a 1973 (Mk 1 1/2) it was found in a Barn in France and restored by the owner prior to My Mate ( Mike) buying it, allegedly it has racing history which if it can be proved would make it a very valuable car indeed! |

ok ok - is it on the boat to blighty yet then? funnily enough there was a semi-derelict Targa in a driveway not far from here (or a very good fake), I always planned to grab a photo of it but never did, doh

Hehe just kidding Rick,
Nope it isn't. However the uncle was going to give it to her brother as a wedding present before he passed away... _________________ 2013 Dodge Durango R/T Hemi

I take your Point Welshie but the only explanation I can give is that many of us owned Capri's and such like whereas a Porsche was something we aspired to? |
