^^^interesting collection of British Busses^^^
part of my collection.
I saw this 1964 122S Volvo Canadian in Ocean Falls BC and chased down the owner asking if she wanted to sell it. "No", she said, " but would I get it running for her". I filed the points and added ATF to the twin carbs. We jumped it with another truck and hooked up a outboard fuel tank and hose to the fuel pump.
A couple minutes later I had it running then noticed oil being sprayed on my pants from the leaking oil pressure gauge line.
I removed the oil line to the gauge and found the old oil pressure switch in the glove box and screwed it in. Bad brakes but it ran pretty good.
I told the lady if she ever wanted to sell it to give me a call(we live about 70 nautical miles away- Ocean Falls is only accessible by boat- ferry or float plane.
3 years later the Government Highway crew called me saying that they could bring the Volvo here by barge when they come back. The lady told them it was mine. She left the signed registration papers on the seat
They just wanted a sack of beer for the crew. Great deal since I helped them drink the beer.
Still needs to be rebuilt and brakes are still weak. Another one for the future projects list. Collection parts now
cheers

Hank,
Is it very rusty? As I recall these Volvos were assembled at a plant in Halifax, Nova Scotia and had a bad reputation for premature rusting which the 'lore' of the day said it was because the plant was in the dock area and the sea air was the cause of the rust.

I do believe that it was assembled in Halifax as it had a chrome "Canadian" script instead of "Amazon" I've seen on other 120's.
I haven't put it up on the hoist to check for rust underneath but all the doors open and shut with a solid feel
We do live in a Rain Forest and rust never sleeps
cheers

This would fit with the Canadian Volvo plant opening in 1963. Whether or not Canadian assembled Volvo's were more prone to rust because of the plant's location I don't believe was ever proven...However, it has been suggested that the work attitude within the Canadian Auto Union workers was not conducive with procedures to thoroughly clean the body shells prior to painting. I worked within the North American motor industry for quite a few years and Volvo was a subject of discussion. |

Rick you might be interested in this one.
behind my shop
Our old company shop truck used in 1971 to 1975 .Check out the Logo on the door!
1950 1 Ton Fargo (Dodge of Canada) flat deck powered by a flat head 6 cylinder engine, 4 speed with a granny low gear, dual 20 inch tires. Vacuum powered windshield wipers.
I converted to 12 volts and installed electronic ignition and fuel pump.
We drove around the area picking up old cars and parts.
great wood truck but no dump so it has been parked since we got a IH ex-Highways real dump truck.
We took our dog for a walk to photograph some old wrecks I know of today
no idea what it is but has a inline 8 cylinder flathead engine and Fluid Drive on the license plate light covering.
heavy looking
any idea what it is?
