Hi There,
I just bought a Fordson, I can not find the type number but I think it is a fordson anglia. The chassis number is 660a8965. Here is the picture:

Could somebody tell me wat type of fordson this is? What year it is build?
Is it possible to identify the above questions based on the chassisnumber?

The car looks great, only the petroltank is missing so I am looking for a pertoltank. Any advice will be appriciated.
Thank you for your answers.

Hi

Welcome to the forum, I have an E83W, the bigger brother to yours, mine is a pickup. I think yours is a E494C but I am sure someone will tell you for sure, I allways call yours the 5CWT ford.

www.smallfordspares.co.uk is good for parts, not sure on your tank, just keep an eye on ebay, as they do pop up.

Cheers

Dave

Hi Dave and Rick,
Thank you for the information, it is a very good looking car but there is no registration on it so I need to know the year of production to get a registration.
Does the chassis number hide the date of Production??
660A8965
Thank you for your answers

I think you could approach the Ford Sidevalve Owners Club for exact dating information, I don't think I have it anywhere.

The E494C was built between 1948 and 1954. Thinking about it, in overseas markets the E83W was known as the 500kg van, so perhaps the E494C was known as the 250kg van .. I think I have a brochure somewhere, will check.

Theres a good book on small sidevalve Fords, from where this info was taken:

Some vans had an opening screen, but this was optional (yours has a fixed screen looking at the photo?). Later vans have rectangular vents on the side of the scuttle (between the door and bonnet).

Hai All,
Thank you for all the information
Is there perhaps a drawing from the petrol tank availlable somewhere on the internet with dimensions and so on?
Here are some more pictures

Kind regards,
Leo

There are pictures here:- http://www.smallfordspares.co.uk/plate.phtml?PlateID=15 Very Happy Hope that helps, not a great picture of the tank, but I will have a look in my book at the weekend if not before. (remind me on!)

I have a Repair manual for your van I think, I will try and dig it out, and check if I have, I can scan you any pictures you may need and send them on to you?

Hi Rick,
I do own a ship rental service, classic boats only (all monumental), build in 1920. I want to have indeed my company name on it, written in a very classic way. The car will be used to bring catering on board. So all must be in classic style!
Kind regards,
Leo
