Couldn't believe this list of newly made towbar kits for proper oldies, eg the Austin page where I found a towbar listed for the Devon Shocked

Hi 47p2

I seem to recall that, on cars with your type of rear bumper and fittings, that a lot of people used to run a strong metal bar across the car behind the bumper utilising the same chassis connections as the bumper, and then drill through both the bumper and the extra bar and then bolt the tow ball to that.

Hi Penman,

Thanks for that but my car has quarter bumpers so the method you suggest could not be possible.

There were special tow bar brackets available at one time so I think it will just be a case of keeping my eyes open
