Thanks Peter, it's the square ones I need so I'll order the motorbike ones - when I get the number.
Nice picture Victor - although I do feel a bit sad when I see an old truck done up like that, just a personal feeling. It's a bit like seeing your Granny in a miniskirt and boob tube |

Be careful about buying M/bike plates, they may be smaller plates with a smaller font, this would not be legal on the truck.

It took about two weeks for my registration to go through the DVLA and that was me chasing them up. I ended up borrowing trade plates from my MOT station just so that I could take the car out for a drive _________________ ROVER

I would guess your number will be XU? as this seems to be the series they are using for pre 63 imports. Be careful if you are considering fitting 6"X12" plates, They (Police & VOSA) are tightening up on size and style of font used. You can only use a smaller font on imported vehicles, if the normal place for fitting on the body/bumper will only allow a smaller (6x12 0r 7x13) plate. As you should be getting a 6 digit number, your plate only needs to be 400mm (15.75") long using the legal sized font. _________________ 1964 International Harvester |

Thanks All,
I'll be chasing up after 5 days as the local DVLA said 5 to 7 days and I need the number for Glamis.
I'll be getting the standard 3 1/2" digit plates in a double line pattern as I have enough room for 8 1/2 * 11 1/2 plates on the standard brackets that were with the truck.
I've driven the truck on various test drives as well as the 15 miles to and from the MOT station and even got a wave from a police car when I had no plates at all. Can't see the police round here being remotely interested in plate size - unless they were on a lowered Japanese drifter
Cheers

I have a friend in Bath with one, but don't think he'd venture that far away
I now have my Registration now - 135 XUP - into the DVLA on Wed and delivered today. Great service.
Out for a drive with home made plates while I order the correct ones. |

I just love that grille - plenty of chrome and the headlights are very art decoish.
Just out of interest did the Chevvy trucks borrow any styling cues from the seadns of the era or use the same panels?
Very nice work indeed and now that I have today moved my daughters stuff out of the garage to her new place will use your example to press on with my projects. |

Hi,
The 30's and 40's Chevy's of all types shared lots of parts, engines, running gear and some panels. Not sure if they took styling cues of each other as in the books all the manufacturers say they were the first with these 'modern' designs
Chevy light weight trucks were certainly the best sellers in the early days.
There are highs and lows to this refurbishing lark but driving it out for the first time certainly cancels out the lows so press ahead.
Cheers
