I have downloaded this from another forum and with the owners permission I am posting it here.
It is a database where you can keep check on details of vehicles you own.

The owner of the database wrote....

I am working on a car history database application, that enables you to keep your cars history on your computer, complete with photos etc. This has been designed with the classic car enthusiast in mind.

This is currently available as a free download from
http://www.mygarage.org.uk./

I have asked if there is any data transferred from the database to a server etc. He assures me everything is kept on your own computer and nothing is shared.

I like the idea and it seems very simple to navigate around.

The owner has built the database for keeping a record of his own vehicles

I have only just launched this (January 2008). I am looking for the first 50 registered users who will get this product free for life !

I also have a long list of features to add. I am just starting work on v1.3, which should be out at the end of March - still free !

When you download the files you will be asked where to save them, when finished downloading open the files and you should have 2 icons, My Garage_Setup and setup. Click on the setup icon and it will download the 2 files required to start the product. The setup files took around 5 minutes to download for me, so be patient.

Remember the first 50 to register will get the latest updated database for life

Automatic reminders for road tax, insurance, mot , SORN etc
Create additional reminders based on time or mileage.
Log magazine price guide values, and get a value for your car.
Generate useful statistics about your cars.
Easy to find historical information on your car.
Increase the value of your car by providing a detailed history.

I noticed this thread and thought it sounded interesting. I've downloaded MyGarage but not yet used it.

Anyone else here use it? What are your experiences of it? Worthwhile or just something for people with too much time on their hands Laughing

Regards Rich...

Many years ago I wrote a similar programme in BBC Basic (haven't computers changed!). I spent far more time writing it and de-bugging it than I ever did using it. The output in costs etc. was interesting and often somewhat frightening, but the dedication in keeping it up to date soon disappeared. I found a notebook with necessary servicing data kept in the glove box was much less time-consuming.

Jim.

Had a brief play about, I like it!

Need to add a lot more detail yet but I think this will be an increasingly useful tool. Cool

I may have sold my Dolomite, but I have still been working on the "MyGarage" software.

For those that don't know, "MyGarage" is a software application you run on your computer for keeping the histroy of your car, including warnings about forthcoming mot's etc. - A bit like Microsoft Outlook... but for cars !

The latest version has just been released, and includes major changes to the picture / galleries, and an export / import feature so you can pass on the history to the next owner. Selling the Dolly bumped that one right up the development list !
