Hi to everybody!
I am a newbie, I was just invited by Uncle Joe, my Swedish Mopar friend!
I am an italian owner of a 1966 Chrysler 300 (sister of the UJ's '65) and I am actually working on it. The car was bought in California in Aug. 2006 during my honeymoon and was in excellent conditions. Body was recently repainted the correct Spanish red and interiors were almost perfect. Mechanically, the car is all original with 383 ci engine, automatic transmission and heavy duty suspension. The car has a lot of optionals, power brakes, power steering, power windows, air conditioning, radio... After a little work on the engine last year (new exhaust, new carb, new camshaft and lifters, little manteniance here and there) in July 2007 a main bearing (or rod bearing, I don't know) failed and the engine was stopped until today. Now I am in process of rebuid mechanically the car.
Here below some photos of my ride.
p.s. sorry for the poor English!!!

The project is the following:
- engine: 512 ci (400 based) engine, 440source stroker 4,25" crank, forged dish pistons(10,7:1 compression) with Indy Max Wedge EZ-1 aluminium heads, Comp Cams mechanical roller camshaft, Crane aluminium roller rockers, Indy intake with Holley 870 cfm carb, MSD ignition
- transmission: modified TF727 with improved seals and clutches and shift kit
- exhaust: TTI ceramic coated headers with TTI complete 2,5" exhaust system, Cherrybomb Pro mufflers
- front suspension: reinforced lower arms, all new polygraphite bushings and new ball joints, new KYB gas shocks, 1" Addco sway bar.
- rear suspension: one more long leaf added per side, poly bushings, monroe air shocks, Addco 3/4" sway bar
- rear end: Auburn posi unit with 3,23 (stock) final ratio, all new bushings and seals
- brakes: front and rear SSBC slotted and coated 11,25" discs with 4 pistons fixed aluminium calipers on front and single piston floating aluminium calipers on rear, all new lines.
I think is all...
It will be a nice surprise to all the Italian US car owners when my car will resurrect in the next meeting with brand new mechanicals... nobody knows of that here.
It maybe seem too radical but I like stock appearing cars with plenty of power!

My mother had two '68 Chrysler New Yorker 4-doors which is similar to yours. They both have the 440 with the huge single AFB carb. One was fully loaded with all options and the other had a few options. I'll have to do some digging and see if I have any pics of it.
The cars are still around and owned by a friend and the fully loaded one is in excellent condition while the other is used as a parts car now. |

After spraying, some updates:
And the rear leafs with the powder coated axle. The lowering blocks are there because the leafs will be more curved than before due to the added big leaf (the 4th from the top). All the bushings are poly.
Next step will be to fit the third member (just assembled with brand new Auburn posi unit and all brand new bearings), and the disc brakes.
See ya! |

This is the differential third member, cleaned, sand blasted and powder coated, with the brand new Auburn suregrip unit inside and all new bearings and seals.
On the car (now I have to change bearings in my arms... soooo heavy!)
The SSBC brakes:
The wheel studs needed to be corrected on the lathe... and they are sold with the kit!
The calipers, the left one needed to be clearanced, too tight fit:
And the front suspensions components assembled, everything sand blasted and powder coated, with all new poly bushings, the lower control arms reinforced, new gas charged KYB shocks, and the spindles with the flange for disc brakes provision. The next job to do!
