Hi

I got a nice old tyre pump, the Dunlop major this morning at the carboot, and a couple of books. Does anyone know if I can get a replace ment hose and latch thingy that goes onto the valve, as this is the only thing stopping me pumping my tyre up, if so where do I get one from?

Considering going to another carboot in a minute, or maybe the 1000 rally.

Cheers

Dave

I have seen them for sale at Halfords of all places, in black too, although that was probably a year or so ago its worth checking. I've had one or two from them in the past

he companies who make up hydraulic hoses should be able to help.
Also worth a try is companies that make flexible gas pipes

Buzzy, is it cloth covered? i have a couple that need new hoses also. Was able to find stock air pump hose a few years ago for couple of American cars, but for some reason, cloth covered hose sticks in my mind for the Dunlops. btw i'm in the flatlands of the states. tt

I'm pretty sure I have a NOS Dunlop hose and valve connecter, I know its Dunlop becase the valve connector which is bigger than modern ones has something like "Dunlop No6" stamped in to it, I'll dig it out for our meet..

Hi

I have no idea what it is meant to look like, as my pump is missing it all together, maybe the hose was badly worn, so the chap took it off, before carbooting it, to make it look better, I am not sure.

UK, I would be interested in that if it fits, I will try to remember to put the pump in the back, when I come to the meet, but will probably forget!

I will ask my dad to hold off, as I was going to send him looking for something suitable tomorow, but as there is no rush, won't bother now!

Cheers

That looks to be from a compressor airline such as you would find in a garage

I would think it highly unlikely Dave, but worth a try anyway

Hi

The nipple looks similar, but if not, I know how to make it fit!

Handy having friends who run an agricultural engineers, they have loads of nipples/adaptors, all sorts, so should think I will be able to get a reducer for it.

If it fits straight away all the better!

Cheers

Dave

Out of interest whats the difference between and "open" and "closed" connectors for tyre pump attachments?

ok took a look at the ones i have here, of course the Dunlop Major "missing" the hose. the Dunlop Standard has a braided cloth cover. and the Kissmett Lorry has a very similar hose but much longer than the Dunlop Standard. tt

A truck connector should have a double sided head on it to allow you to blow up the rear twin tyres. When fitting twin tyres the valves are offset at 180 degrees
