Apparently the oldest car they test is a 1905 single cylinder London to Brighton job which is apparently interesting to drive! |

Yes! It lives in my road!
I went to ask if it was for sale last year sometime, the answer was of course no. We've lived here since 1998, it's been here all that time at least. Very rusty but probably saveable. The owner is a rather strange fellow who rarely seems to leave the (somewhat scruffy) house, and the garden is home to an equally scruffy Mondeo.
I've always wondered what's in the garage for the Aston to be parked outside
I think I'll go down and get some "exclusive" OCC pictures tomorrow _________________ Richard Hughes |

Yep, seen that and it's being discussed on the AMOC forum too, Rikki Cann a well known Aston indie in Essex has also approached him to no avail. Richard are you able to get near the car? I'd like to ask a specific question about the car which will need you to look at the dash? Cheers Rich... |

PM sent
I did suspect Rikki Cann was the AM specialist who approached him as he lives only about a mile away...his drive is littered with old Astons, several of them race-prepared. Although to be honest the car that interested me most was the shabby Ford Consul Classic he drove as everyday transport a few years ago _________________ Richard Hughes |

Hello chaps, back on subject. I picked up a new battery from Lincon Batteries today, very friendly service and cheaper than the "classic car specialists" - looks the part too in a heavy duty rubber case and exposed lead bars. Now fitting this will inspire me to clean the engine bay because where the battery sits is in full view and needs a good clean up! Pictures to follow. R...

Well, I've spent the last few weekends cleaning the engine bay and I'm pretty pleased with the results. Lots of wire wool, rubbing down, cleaning, spraying and tidying and it looks a lot better. Here's a few before and after shots...
Battery area
Exhaust manifolds
Tool box
It's quite satisfying when you see the results |

Looking good, nice o see a working engine bay as well.
Full set of tools as well
What happened to the attitude adjuster in the battery bay
Saw a car the other day, American, everything under the bonnet was chrome plated.
I'm afraid it's not to my taste.

Ah yes the 'attitude adjuster' ? I was going to clean it up and re-varnish the handle but I think it may be beyond redemption. In fact I use a more modern 'dead blow' hammer for the spinners, it's got nylon heads and is filled with lead shot, doesn't' damage the chrome at all and is very solid. For owners with wires they are well worth getting. |
